April 29 2025
AUBURN, Ala.- The City of Auburn's Workforce Development team is partnering with the Opelika Economic Development Department and True Deliverance Holiness Church to host a Neighborhood Job Fair on Thursday, May 8. The event will be held from 1-5 p.m. at True Deliverance Holiness Church (936 N. Donahue Drive).
This is the fourth of several joint efforts between the Cities of Auburn and Opelika, along with faith-based organizations to get connected with those not currently engaged in the workforce in neighborhoods throughout both cities. Right now, the Auburn-Opelika metropolitan statistical area (MSA) has a workforce participation rate of approximately 56 percent, this event will be geared towards reaching out to the other 44 percent of eligible workers.
“As one of the fasting growing MSAs in Alabama, we are partnering with our neighboring community and the faith-based community to reach additional talent looking for great opportunities,” says Trevor Cook, Auburn's Workforce Development Director.
Over 20 companies will be onsite presenting job opportunities to applicants, including: Auburn University, 2AUSA, Inc., I-PEX USA Manufacturing Inc. and others. Employers and companies are invited to attend the job fair by contacting Trevor Cook at tcook@auburnalabama.org.
There will also be several community resource partners onsite to help attendees needing assistance with common employment barriers such as available childcare, transportation and additional training.
“We are excited about this community effort to reach potential applicants for the many great careers that are available in our area and to help alleviate some of the common barriers we see in our workforce initiatives,” says John Sweatman, Opelika's Director of Economic Development.
No previous registration is required to attend this event. Resumes are encouraged but also not required.
